Where’s The Beef?
The buy local movement is moving across the country and across our region. Buying local supports local farmers and ranchers and yields the consumer a fresher product that is generally healthier than commercial product. The fact that these animals are raised the way that they were created to be raised, slow & on pasture vs. quickly on a feedlot produces a healthier product. This is because large doses of antibiotics aren’t used to treat the break down and ulcers in the gut of the animal caused as a result of the unnatural corn and grain based commercial feed lot diet. When raised naturally, those antibiotics aren’t required and even more importantly those antibiotics aren’t passed along to you and your family in the meat you consume!
How much will it cost?
We sell beef in 1/4′s, 1/2′s or whole beef by “hanging weight”. (Hanging weight or rail weight is the weight of the meat before trimming fat or bone from the carcass after it has aged.) Current Market Pricing for Grass Fed & Finished Beef is $3.50 per pound (Hanging Weight). Our Pricing for Grass Fed & Finished Beef is $3.25 per pound (Hanging Weight). pricing subject to change
Our average ¼ is somewhere between 110 – 140lbs hanging weight
Average Cost Example Assuming 130lb quarter hanging weight:
$3.25/lb x 130lbs = $422.50 per quarter (paid to Grace Farm Cattle Company)

Scheffelmaier Meats is a highly regarded local, family-owned butcher shop. After dry aging your beef for 14-21 days, their professional team will walk you through cutting instructions and clearly explain the options as they guide you through the process. Your beef is cut to your specifications and then double shrink-wrapped and frozen. Once your beef has been processed, we will contact you with the exact weight of your order and approximate pick up date. How Do I Pay?
A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of order. The deposit is applied directly to the purchase price of the beef. Deposits and final payments can be made in cash or cashier’s check.

1/2 Beef-$400.00
Whole Beef-$750.00
* Scheffelmaier Meats processing charges are $0.65/lb (Hanging Weight) + $25 processing fee
** Remember that the total weight of the butchered beef includes all cuts of meat that you choose including steaks, roasts & hamburger.
